I ended up finding a 1959 fastwin in good shape and running order for a couple hundred bucks, but I would like to touch up the paint on it. does anyone have any suggestions?
Peter at nymarine is a great guy, in fact I ordered a part from him just this morning. He is in Canada. Another correct color paint supplier is http://www.reprotint.com (954) 274-6222—-in U.S.A. Your choice.
I used to have one, golden jubilee 18 w/ electric start. Your picture brings back good memories. Never should have let mine go! I saw one a month ago on Craigslist and was tempted. Gotta finish the elto first though. 🙂
Good luck with yours!
Frank has great advice. Reprotint seems to be pretty good stuff and goes right together with original paint, as well. Take a look at my RD-17 below and see if you can tell any difference from the gear case, or the midsection it’s bolted to. The prop and gear case, I completely stripped and repainted with their Sea Horse Green.
Glad to hear the 18 is a good engine! i’m excited to get started on it but between the -35 temps we had over the weekend and running the kids around it hasnt happened yet. The Johnson Looks amazing!! My goal is to paint the boat and engine with the matching rude colors. I found a reprint decal kit for the engine and i think i’m going to take the boat to the local vinyl guy and have him size up the richline decals so i can strip the paint in that area.
