Couple questions… What grit do you painters usually go down to before prime . After coming out of blast cabinet the surface is a bit rough . My thought was down to 220 grit . I’ll be using epoxy primer with PPG polyurethane single stage enamel.
Also there is a small tear shaped divot on the leading edge . It has a very small hole in the divot .. Does that belong there ? I have also heard that the 2 small holes at the SS cavity should be drilled out to a slightly larger diameter. Any truth to that ?   Thanks guys ..

Yes it should be there. I open it up to 1/8in hole make sure to clean the cavity the hole drains.

Dave knows better than me but I have never seen a drain hole in that area that has relief in front of it, like that. It’s almost as if it is designed….or somebody modified it……to actually pick UP water as the gear case moves forward. It seems very counter-intuitive to a drain hole, although I KNOW it IS supposed to be a drain hole…..I don’t get it.

              Long live American manufacturing!

Bill what the groove does is it picks up water and helps to keep the cavity hole clear. works but you need the hole bigger. when i drill the hole, I give it a tilt forward also.

Drill at a forward angle as to pick up water better ..

I have the VW Cashmere to mimic the cloud white .
But to me it looks a little to bright white . I may experiment with some light brown paint I can add to it to give it a tinge of off white /antique white ..
