I am working on a 1955 Corsair Navigator 7.5hp (based on the ’53 Scott-Atwater Golden Pennant 7.5hp). I has the Phelon F-189 (T7) ignition. Does anyone have the part number for the condenser for this model of the Phelon? It has been really hard to find any documentation on this specific Scott-Atwater series of motors, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
JPApril 22, 2017 at 7:19 pm #56538Here’s the ’53 Scott-Atwater 7.5 mag. P/N 5010-115 for the condenser. I don’t know the value of it but it’s a start.
Does your mag look the same? S-A also used Wico mags with the stand up condensers.
In this ’56 Scott I successfully used Vishay caps with a 0.15 uF rating. It’s an F-189 mag plate to.
April 22, 2017 at 8:24 pm #56544Yep, that’s the one, Mumbles. Thank you very much! Appreciate the recommendation on the Vishay caps…I was going to ask about that as an option. My Scott-Atwater manual cuts off at 1950, and although a few of those earlier models used a different version of the Phelon ignition, the vast majority have the WICO magneto. Appreciate the diagram, too, as I haven’t been able to track down anything for this specific model.

April 22, 2017 at 8:32 pm #56547Cool….Digi-Key is pretty amazing for this stuff. Is this the same Vishay capacitor that you use for the OMC universal magneto?
JPApril 22, 2017 at 8:39 pm #56548It’s the same brand and style but with a different rating. The OMC replacements are rated at 0.22 uF.

The 0.10 uF ones come in handy to.
