Hi I have a 54 evinrude 25hp that I’m trying to get the pilot shaft nut off. I’m just curious if there is a trick or if its a reverse thread or if mine is just welded on lol. I have been trying to turn both ways just can’t seem to get it lose.

Sorry, but not sure what a pilot shaft nut is…  Are you speaking about the flywheel nut on top of the engine?

steering friction nut likely…. maybe ….. soaking and  patience  needed…some heat or cold

There should have been a photo attached. I’ve done heat and it’s soaking now.  I got it to turn clockwise a bit but not the other. But if it’s not reverse thread then I’m just tightening it lol

Judicious use of the torch, liberal amounts of penetrating oil and copious amounts of patience should eventually loosen it up.   Patience is key.

I brought it to work to see if one of the techs can get it loose. Fingers crossed
