If you need to contact him before ordering he
doesn’t check his email that often so if you call
it can be hard to get him to answer the phone.
Let it ring and keep trying.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

All it takes is money. marineengine.com has them. Part number 378416 for a set of three rings.

2 3/8" bore, same as the OMC ten horse motors. They all use the same rings.

These might be the ones you want. It sure looks like 378416 written on the box and they are about half the price of the ones from ME including shipping from the other side of the planet. A cross reference to the Perfect Circle P/N would sure be handy right now.

                  I’m confused..
QD rings are definitely different than FD rings, or am I misunderstanding the topic again….Looks like the FD10 is a 56 15hp, so do the 15hps have the same rings as the 10hps? Could not find any parts breakdowns…

No need to be confused Fleetwin. The first Johnson FD model in ’56, the fifteen horse FD-10, had the same 2 3/8" bore size as it’s cousin, the ten horse QD series of motors but the stroke was different. In ’57 the bore was increased giving the FD motors eighteen horsepower. Same bore, same rings.

OK, good to know…The FD 15hp models shared the same rings bore size as the QD 10 hp series, got it now…

Thanks for the info!!! I usually use ME to get the info i need for parts, but they do not have the FD-10 listed. I got my hands on the attached parts list, and it indicated 301787 for the piston rings. Wasn’t able to bring up the part number, so that led to my confusion. I will try get some more info from the ebay link that Mumbles posted. I am not in a hurry as this motor has been in various states of repair for over a year. I had the pistons soaking in a carb kit for months with the hope the rings would come loose and could be salvaged. Finally gave up and ended up busting them out.
