I came across this horrible doing when browsing our Australian Gumtree.

Anyone seen anything like it before?

      Cheers

That’s the new aftermarket lightweight racing flywheel.

I guess that’s one way or getting at the coils.
          Not the preferred method.

looks like somebody cut apart and then broke off the flywheel so they could salvage the coils and points, I guess he didn’t have a flywheel puller 😯

              That’s a ‘knuckle slicer’.

Just reach in and give it a firm twist.

Am I seeing this wrong, or did he also "salvage" the carb, crankcase, pistons and rods? An awful lot of daylight showing in the first pic….

If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.

The gas cap looks to be in pretty good shape.

All is not lost! Cobble an old automotive generator wired to run like a motor to the top and you will have an electric trolling motor!

I have seen that happen when an auto mechanic used a gear puller (which hooks to the edges of the flywheel) to remove the flywheel in order to work on the magnito. The flywheel came off, but the flywheel hub didn’t! . . ., 😀

Like the one Garry saw, some years ago when I didn’t know any better, I cracked off a flywheel on a 1958 35 Johnson using an automotive brake drum puller. I knew a flywheel puller was the way to go but didn’t have a suitable one and wanted it off NOW!
