      Hi,

I am getting close to being able to spray paint my Johnson 5.5 (CD-12) Motor.  I am going to use Rustoleum Satin Moss Green.    Any opinion if I should 1st use the Rustoleum primer and if so should I use white or grey primer ?    Thanks for any advice

It’s always a good idea to use paint/primer from the same manufacturer and double check to make sure they are compatible. Using different products can cause grief.  I like neutral grey primer as a white primer may cause the top coats to be too bright of a shade or tint. Light color primer is usually used for light colors and dark primers for dark colors.  If you can, spray a sample piece with both primers and see what the results are with topcoat applied.  It shouldn’t matter too much with a solid color but metallics can be different.
