Did your torque the flywheel nut properly, perhaps the key is sheared through the timing way off…

Key is not sheared. I’ve taken flywheel off several times and key is fine.

Correct, I did not disconnect the leads because I was able to just move over the crank and to the side. It was firing just fine so I have no idea. I am getting good spark at the plugs.

Just a hunch, but I suspect the fuel pump diaphragm has a hole in it, which is flooding the engine. Too much gas is about as bad as too little gas. Add to that, all the priming and choking you are doing to try to get it running.

Thanks frank. I’ll pull it apart again and check that out.

No need to take it apart. Simply remove it from the motor, with hoses still attached. Now give the squeezer bulb a squeeze. If gas comes out the hole in the backside of the pump, the diaphragm is toast.

Will do. I’m assuming if it is getting I got he crank case then it is washing the internals of lubrication.

Well I was getting air bubbles in my fuel line again on the tank side of the primer but it was running after I found the key that I just put in at the points was sheared off. I put another one in and it sheared off too. Both were factory keys. I’m not sure why it keeps shearing keys. Could a bad rod or something internal be causing this?

Well flywheel had a bad wobble. Had another and not it’s not breaking keys.

New tank, hose, fuel pump and primer bulb. Bulb stays hard now but it still lean sneezes and dies if I stop priming the bulb. Obviously a fuel problem but I am at a loss since everything is brand new. 🤷‍♂️ I have adjusted the low speed idle out further and still no change.

So the flywheel key is sheared. Are you torquing it properly?
