      Just curious about this prop.
      I’m not sure if this is a stock Corsair / Firestone prop
      or not, but that part number looks reminiscent of
      Firestone.
      I don’t remember seeing this set up with a numerical
      adjustment.
      I didn’t have a “plan B” for another prop, so I hesitated
      in trying to take this one apart.
      Just speculating, but is there a torsion spring inside the hub
      to adjust the spring tension, i.e., set it on #1 when going
      down the “rocky” rivers, and #4 for “smooth sailing”?

        Never seen a prop like that before. Looking at your other picture in
        projects there may be a spring and cone arrangement similar to this
        early Lockwood prop..

        A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

          Tubs, I suspect it may be of the same idea as your
          Lockwood prop. One can see a flat looking retainer,
          or perhaps spring in my photo, back side of the prop,
          between the prop body and it’s hub.

              Thanks Frank. I can’t picture how setting it to different notches
              changes the slippage, but perhaps if I actually had one apart
              I could. Guess mine is a genuine factory prop, and not some
              aftermarket gizmo.

                I figure 480-3138 screws onto 480-3140 to tighten the cone clutch.  480-3142 resilient washer provides a little “give”.  I don’t think they actually worked as they were supposed to. Either slipped too much or not at all.
