      Should a prop shaft seal be single or double lip? Trying to come up with something for my Homelite 55hp.

        What has proved most effective is using two thinner seals back to back. The inner seal keeps the oil in, while the outside seal keeps the water out.         . . 😉

          US MEMBER PAY BY CHECK

          If you use back to back seals it’s nice to have a small gap to put some grease in between the two seals. I use OMC/BRP Triple Guard. If the seals do their job the lips need some form of lubrication.
