Are there any of these out there? Do you replace it with rope or resleave it? I think the rewind coil needs to be relubricated, it’s slowly rewinds. So take it apart clean it and lubricant it with lithium grease? Is it a difficult process?

      thanks

since you seam like you are unsure about taking apart, Just spray some WD-40 undern the sheeve. then pull a few times. take the paws only off. 3 bolts. it will lock up if not on motor.

not that unsure, just looking for advice if there’s anything to help, spring pops out, left hand nut. You know there’s the easy way and hard way for most of this stuff. How has your spring going?

spring will pop out. the Allen screw is what holds things together. to change the rope, easy leave the starter in the tank. remove the 3 bolts and plate.  release tension on rope. remove the 4 Phillips screws keep them in the same hole when installing them. take rope out. install new rope, I don’t use the wire rope I use the newer mercury rope. install rope thru the tank make sure there is no rough edges in the tank hole. attach to sheeve install 4 Phillips screws fill the sheeve with the rope install the handle. to put tension on the rope just wrap 1-2 turns should be OK. install paws plate and 3 bolts.

Well That seems pretty straight forward, now I’ll order the rope. Thanks Dave
