I’m working on a ’79 65 hp Suzuki. It’s a BIG twin. The flywheel seems to have four puller holes (which also hold on a rope starting sheave). None of my pullers are set up for a 4 bolt pattern. Do people think it’s OK to use a pair of opposing holes to pull it, or do I need to make a 4-bolt puller? My sense is that a 2-bolt pull would probably be OK, but looking for some comfort.

July 19, 2020 at 10:35 am #209124Well, again, I put in a response and it disappeared. No wonder people are using the facebook page. That’s what I’m going to do from now on. The unreliability of this site is just too annoying.
July 19, 2020 at 3:24 pm #209162It’s usually me that has issues…The only thing I have noticed is that it takes awhile for replies to actually post. I think this is why we often see double posts because we click “submit” again, so the same submission posts twice. On the other hand, I think we sometimes change screens before our submissions have actually posted, which just cancels the submission… Surely not speaking from a position of knowledge, just guessing here. I haven’t had anymore issues now that I wait while the submission takes its time to actually post.
Seems like many people have switched to facebook, which is troubling. I will just be here if anyone is looking, no facebook for me..July 19, 2020 at 7:28 pm #209193A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

July 20, 2020 at 5:36 am #209213I have had it happen maybe 5% of the time or less; although sometimes, I think it’s gone, only to find it posted the next day. I would recommend typing your response and hitting control C for the whole thing, before you hit submit….That way, if it goes up in smoke, you can just hit control V and won’t have to retype the whole thing.
Did you ever get the flywheel off?

July 20, 2020 at 10:43 am #209238Yes, I’ve had the same experiences, though way more than 5% of the time, I think, Agree that backup copying the message in case of posting failure seems like the only helpful approach. I expect this unreliability is turning people off. Something is wrong with the underlying code but I know nothing about it.
Flywheel is still on. Bent puller but was able to straighten it. Think I need to find a piece of 1/2″ + plate and make a puller, plus order some 8 mm 10.9 class bolts from Fastenal.
