Looking to find an impellor that can be made to work in a 1946 Merc/Wizard. From the impellor size chart that was recently posted I picked off a couple of Sierria numbers that look they could be made work. Unfortunately the numbers do not show in any current Sierra catalogue. The numbers are 18-3028 and 18-3010. Anybody have a cross ref for these or perhaps what application they may have been for.
      Thanks,

      Joe B

Joe I would like to find some sort of a replacement for that WD3 impeller also. Green thumbs gave me the original part number 47-24447. He also told me "good luck finding one"! Guess we will have to get one made. There has got to be something close. I have not pulled my motor down yet. Maybe when the north wind starts to blow.

I have recv’d a couple of suggestions for possible replacements. I’ll run these down and report on results, positive or otherwise.

I said that I would report… REPORT: I believe that I have found a replacement for the 46 Wiz/ Merc impeller. Thanks to the size charts that were posted, a Yamaha & Merc 2 HP 1984 – 02 impeller is the correct diameter and thickness. The hub bore however is small and needed to be bored out to 1/2" . Since the Wiz drives the impeller from two key slots on the face of the impeller hub the hub needed to have the two key ways cut in… which I did. All appears to be OK, awaiting a water test and final report… perhaps a tech article for the "Outboarder’" as well.

Can’t wait to hear about the test. If that works, that would be huge, or as a certain orange-haired guy says, " ‘uge!"

              Long live American manufacturing!
