Just picked up a vintage boat with a 1968 Evinrude Big Twin on it. Motor runs fine, but have some questions about the remote controls to it. The boat has a toggle switch for the choke, but when I operate it, I don’t notice anything happening. Should something move or make noise?
There also seems to be a temp sensor on the motor that goes to an overtemp indicator which also does not work. How can I test the temp sensor for operation?
Operating the choke switch should slam the choke plate on the carburetor closed tightly. That is, if you have the manual choke in the center (automatic) position and key turned on.
Grounding the wire at the overheat switch should light the warning light or sound the warning horn, whichever applies. Again, key turned on.
Is the boatside control & wiring correct for a 40 hp?
