      Wheaton, I subscribe to Ancestry.com for the censuses.
      I believe the 1880 and 1940 censuses are free though.
      If we knew the history of all our old outboards, or
      could teach them to talk, the hobby would be even
      more fun…… just think of the stories the old RBM’s
      could tell !

        I agree. I had the good fortune to buy mine from the original owners family. They even provided a photo of him. This is what I know about the first owner of my A-25.

        "Sometime in 1925-26 a mechanic for the Rochester Gas and Electric Company and avid angler named George Knight (1876-1950) purchased the motor for use on Cranberry Pond in Rochester, NY where he lived from 1902 until his death in 1950."
