I tried to adjust the steering on this ’22 and the driveshaft disconnected. Is there an easy way to reassemble (by the numbers)? My back won’t allow me to wrestle with it. Picture shows engine at TDC and reverse works. Thanks in advance, Slim

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Thanks Tubs; I’ll give it a shot tomorrow after I talk to my mom. Prop was steering 0 to 60 degrees port. When all is cleaned, loose, and Brasso too it should be fine. Can’t wait to run ‘er again.

Well I slipped it together and the prop spins with the flywheel but when it locks into forward the prop is not aligned at 12 o’clock. I can unlock it with the tiller handle but it rotates 360* to the same place and locks. Maybe it’s time to pull the power head and get a closer look at the shift mechanism. Beautiful polishing job, Tubs.

I replaced the welded parts with good used parts a few years ago. Only shifted while running maybe a dozen times. I’ll look for the old parts and do what I have to do to keep it in forward. Thank you. Slim

I see now the collar and slide were modified on the right. Is there a way to remove the pins in the twist knob from the slide (left) so I can use it on the modified one?

Thanks Tubs; Maybe a fixture can be made to press it out on a vise, but I can install the tiller handle with or without the FR sleeve. I’m beyond trying to make this one original. It’s just a good runner.
