I looked through my 5th edition Johnson service manual but can only find reference to the newer 40hp torque settings (100-105 ft-lbs). Is there a different number for the older 35hp RDE series? Want this perfect, but particularly because I’ve already spent 2 weeks finding a replacement flywheel for this customer’s motor and finally got my hands on one.

      Thanks.

          The 25/30/35hp from ’55 to ’59 is 60 to 65 ft/lbs only not 105

Thanks Chris_P. I’m thinking the last guy went by the newer 100-105ft-lbs, and ruined (or helped ruin) the original flywheel, which had a triangular crack between all 3 puller holes. I was very lucky to get the original flywheel off using the OMC puller, the threads were almost completely gone and flanges ready to break from the core.

            Motor will live on!
