I.m rebuilding a carburetor on a 1958 RDE-19C. Problem is the Slow speed needle screws into a threaded sleeve (came out when I removed the needle) that slides into the carburetor. When I screw the needle into the sleeve, the sleeve rotates with the needle and the needle won’t go in or out. I believe I’ve had the same problem with my CD-14. My question is how do I keep that insert from rotating, do you guys use loctite on it or something? I’m at a loss?? Thanks.

That thing frustrates everybody the first time they run across it. The solution is so simple, you —–well never mind. Anyhoo, preassemble the packing nut, packings, and sleeve onto the needle, sleeve screwed on only a few turns. Now poke the whole assembly into the hole and tighten the packing nut just enough to keep the sleeve from spinning. Now you can screw the needle in till lightly seated and back it off 1-1/2 turns like normal. When final assembly is done, tighten the packing nut as required to prevent spinning from vibration.
