Well good morning all, it’s  official I now have a collection two Kf7’s. Yes I’ve talked to Dave, he’s a wealth of info. I went down to the marina got 4pints of mercury 2stroke and a tank of ethanol free gas. ($6.12) gal. Going with the 25-1 ratio on the back of the bottle.

take the impeller out. next make a plate with a hole for the prop shaft. put the plate on the shaft. next add spacers on top of the plate till you can catch a nut on the prop shaft. Tighten nut till the pump cartridge and gears start to move add spacers and repeat till the cartridge is even with the gear case. Should then pull out or tap the assy. out. mark the pump cartridge for installation. heat may be needed. don’t lose shims.

This is the way I have done it.
I make a plate to fit over the prop shaft
and two holes for screws that fit in the cartridge.
Then just tighten the nuts equally to pull it out.

                .

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

be careful with that method look for burrs on the threads in the pump when finished that will damage the impeller.

You tighten the nuts not the screws.
                    No damage to the cartridge.

I have seen the mercury tool actually pull threads out of the pump. especially saltwater motors .

You have to put screws in the cartridge
no matter what kind of puller you use
                        don’t you?
