Trying to remove the flywheel from this little 1.1hp motor.  It has a recoil, and removing that, the dome containing the little springs seems to be a part of the flywheel. Anyhow

the usual 3 holes that I use to install a harmonic balancer are not there.  I don’t want to pry on top of the magneto, and not sure how to remove the flywheel, as there is no spark.

      Any ideas?

Do a search for “Poppers” and you should see on on this site.
Basically just a double nut with a bolt screwed into, then
screwed tight onto the crankshaft. Have someone hold
the motor up by the flywheel, while you hit the popper,
and it should come loose in a whack or two.

        Prepare to be boarded!

Here is a video. You may be able to just
use your flywheel nut if the threads go all
the way trough and are long enough.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Thanks alot.  Yes, the Johnson nut goes thru, and I will use that.  Have to get a bolt with the right thread tomorrow, and get that flywheel off

that little 1.1hp motor.  Appreciate your help.

Got the bolt, and did the popper thing.  It worked quickly and easily.  Thanks to both of you.
