Removing plastic emblem from Mercury Mark 35A, polishing with headlight restorer

Greetings, had a question about removing the plastic emblem “Kiekhaefer Mercury” off the Mercury Mark 35A faceplate.  Would coming at it from behind the faceplate with some form of heat get the plastic emblem loosened up enough to remove it without breaking it?  I’ve entertained either a heat gun or propane.  Any thoughts on this, not sure how powerful the adhesive on that plastic badge is.  My guess is patience with a heat gun is the key.  Also would a car lens polish help to bring back the original shine?  Thanks in advance.  Shell in Oregon.

Heat and  a thin piano wire between the emblem and face plate. WORKS BEST AND MOST OF THE TIME FOR ME!
