Does anyone have a source for vinyl jacketed cable.  Is anyone fabricating ‘new’ starter ‘rope’.  Interested in replies

Might be something that the sailboat people use. Furling line? This is just a guess on my part.

Haven’t seen that vinyl coated rope for a long time now.   I’ve always replaced worn starter rope with Stens TrueBlue starter rope.   Good stuff – high strength, low stretch and excellent wear resistance.

?? what was the advantage of  vinyl  coating   wear protection ?

if so why not just install some heat shrink tubing   between the handle  and spooler portion where most of the wear happens.

why not smooth out the ruff spots where the rope rides.

Thanks for all of your responses  This was more of a marketing question , rather than a repair question

Are we talking about the common, vinyl coated steel cable that is used for tiller steering? I haven’t bought any lately, but the stuff was available from hardware stores. Also same stuff that is used on dog run leads, pet store and Harbor Freight has the stuff. If I remember, Scott Atwater tended to use the coated steel cable on recoils in the 1950’s
