Hello, I’m a new member, and a new recipient (from wife for my 60th birthday) of a 1948 Johnson Seahorse TD-20 5h. A wonderful gift to celebrate the milestone. I married well.

I live in Colorado. The motor is in Vermont and I need to find a shop in Vermont that works on restoring old Johnson motors like this one. It is presently housed in Middlesex VT, just outside Montpelier.
      Thank you, Kite

You might try calling local parts supplier, Marinengine @ (800) 209-9624. They’re headquartered in Brandon Vt.

Customer service may have a list of repair shops you could contact. If they don’t have such a list, ask if the owner, Andrew Menkart, can refer you to a shop.

Many Many thanks Need2fish. Andrew was as nice and encouraging as billed. He didn’t know any shops off hand, but strongly encouraged me to try doing it myself. Well there’s no time in a man’s life when he stops learning. Thank you again, Kite

You will probably just need new leather primer seals and instructions to install them. If so I am the only source for those. Most TDs of that vintage still have good coils and good compression.  The original primer seals wear out so the motor won’t start long before the rings and cylinders wear out.  231-929-7479

Thank you Lloyd. I will definitely give you a ring for the primer seals. Leather (!!!) seals, wow what a kick! Who knew? Thanks again, Kite
