So working on the kg7 piston and rings. I can’t find information on the ring gap. I just got the rings from Ferguson and pool. Is this a thing I need to be concerned with? Thanks

Going from memory about .o05 per inch of bore …. for example 2 inch bore, would be .01 end gap.

This gap is not set in stone, it is more a general dimension, as in some applications one needs either more or less end gap

This is checked by inserting the ring by itself squarely into the bore. I use the bottom of the piston and using a feelers gage to check the gap.

Rings are Cast Iron, Theey will flex ,but, they will break when limit is exceeded, $$$  Bottom of cylinder bore is not worn by piston travel & rings, so it will be the tight spot to set rigg gap. A used cylinder will be a worn cylinder.  The end gap at bottom of chlinder can be used as a base number and the end gap measurements from several points in piston travel area will reveal degree of wear,  2 Pi R and a little number  crunching will give factual information , Less than 0.005 ” increase cylinder diameter is acceptable. Oversized pistons and rings WERE available , but, That was then and This is Now,  If cylinder is  excessively worn out,,, lood for a better cylinder block. Hone only as much as needed,

If you check and find everything is OK GOOD!

If you check and find cykunder bores excessively worn  it is time to look for a better cylinder block from a KG7

I was once told a rebuild starts with a good crankshaft, The story does not end there.

          Good Luck
