Has anyone tried to put a grove in the crankshaft bores in the crankcases for a O ring seal ? also for the lower unit shafts? It seems like it would help with some marginal fits. Gary

Myself and others just replace the bushings in the upper and lower crank case halves, works very well, we also snug the fit a bit, to help with crank case compression… we also replace the bushings in the gear case, replace driveshafts and gears when necessary…also making new prop shaft…

They run really well after that kind of lovin given to them…

          Hi Gary,
I personally have never tried to install O ring seals on any rebuilds I have done. Once everything is rebushed & new shafts made with a clearance fit of .0015 – .002 everything performs and lubricates the unit quite well. Personally I don’t feel O ring seals are needed.
I have many many hours of run time on them with great success.
          Opinions & experiences will vary.

          Respectfully
