Rubber Mount Test

Other than a physical rip or break, is there anyway to determine if a lower unit rubber mount is in good shape, and should be reused when rebuilding a motor?

I usually just twist and bend them with my hands. If I see the metal starting to tear away from the rubber at any point, I ding it.
