      question….

      u-tubes are showing the use of silicone putty on the threads before screwing in the inserts

      is RED thread locker not sufficient ?? or is the silicone putty a better sealer ?

      thanks ( re-doing a thread on my 7.5 Evinrude )

        I have always used red Loktite on my helicoils and also the spark plug inserts. It has always worked well for me.

          It’s recommended right on the package to use Red Hi-Heat Silicone on the Heli Coil spark plug inserts.It has more body than Loc Tite and probably seals and retains the insert better than the liquid Loc Tite.

          Your mileage may vary.
