      So, the tool wont work even if you pull the head off?

        Hummmm cutting the thread cleanner end off would be nice but I suspect the whole rod is dye hardenned.

        I will check my local shop for tapping if not … new head will be hunted for . Maybe Doug Penn has one ??

          problem solved.

          used cyl head found locally for 25$

          Local boat dealer had several used ones in stock ….
