Old Scott 16 hp followed me home from estate sale. Turns over and shifts, couple questions. It’s red cowl, white lower, that the right color? Clean under cowl, electric start. Even has spare plugs in holder, along with shear pins. What voltage is starter? any idea what power plug looks like and where I could find one or make one. lots of questions, oil mixture, what common problems should I look for. Thanks Jim

12v starter. if the hood is fiberglass then red could be original. oil mix I would use 16-1 till I found out for sure.

Book says 1/2 pt per gallon. Last year produced was ’58. I can’t find any documentation of electric start, that might have been an aftermarket option.
The early years of McCulloch seem under-documented..

1957 was 12V, so it would be safe to say that 1958 was also. A model number sure would help

16:1? I thought those old Scotts were needle bearing construction. Those old 16’s I believe had the 17mm giant spark plugs. The old green one I had, did.

That helped a lot. panel must go on the boat, no place I see on the motor. I figured it needed a solenoid. This is clean under the hood, even prop doesn’t have any dings. takes the big plugs, has two spares in holders, along with shear pins, keys. someone took good care or didn’t use much.
