Hello,
I discovered a crack in the cylinder block of my 1975 Seagull Silver Century WS series, Amal Carburetor. Any ideas where I might find a replacement block? I bought it new and it has been a great little engine. Never missed a beat. I want to keep using it for a few more of my remaining years. Thanks for your help.June 1, 2020 at 2:33 am #204650You might try placing a free want ad in the classified section here or go straight to the source and see if the guys at the SOS sight can help.

A few years ago I had a Silver Century with a broken connecting rod. A club member on the East Coast had what I needed but unfortunately I believe he is gone now.

June 1, 2020 at 8:03 am #204660Mumbles given you the best source. There’s a guy here in Montreal who appears to be liquidating his Seagull collection. Perhaps he has some suitable organ donors.

Thanks for your reply. Please look and see. Mine is a WSL, the actual Seagull part number is S100/1299.
Thank you for looking.-

Thanks for your replys. The ad is placed. John at S.O.S. has no blocks. I’m following all leads as these are becoming hard to find. If you have and info on the Montreal source please let me know.June 2, 2020 at 6:37 pm #204826fifty20ne,
Thanks for your suggestion. From what I have read elsewhere, welding is not an option, I can’t remember why just now (age again). Other suggestions included JB Weld as a temporary, but the crack starts around the lower bolt to the crankcase and heads down into the exhaust area. If I have to strip it down to do either of these and I’d just as soon replace the block till next time. Maybe buy 2 blocks this time… -
