First time on the lake for this 1932 Sears Motorgo Jr. 6 hp,
since I went through it. It ran okay, and pumped water great,
but it was about the least enjoyable motor I’ve ever operated.
You couldn’t let go of the tiller for a millisecond or you’d be
turning a hard left. The motor is stationary on this one, and
there’s a ton of torque and hence bother, to keep the boat
      going straight.
I see no “counter acting” springs, nor provisions for any,
to make it easier to steer.
Anyone know if there was originally springs or other devices to help
      steer this motor?

Bucc, she sure looks good and sounds good, nice work. As for the torque steering, I don’t know, have no experience with that particular motor. You say no obvious provisions for some kind of compensating spring like on many of the older row boat motors.  Can you just tighten up the down tube, if there are provisions for that.

Joe, I don’t believe that there is any kind of friction adjustment, but
I’m going to ponder the situation a little more tomorrow.

You have that one dialed in. Sounds strong.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
