I unbolted head and piston is seized in head. What s the best thing to do?
September 7, 2021 at 11:22 am #246300Not sure if you meant to say the piston is seized in the cylinder or seized in the head. In either case heat and vibration and penetrating oil should help. Hot water to heat things up and tapping with tools for vibration.

September 7, 2021 at 4:28 pm #246315round wooden peg and a hammer (alternating on the pistions if more than one) worked for me. WD40 helps . took a week to free up a 9.5HP

September 7, 2021 at 7:23 pm #246317Above all, patience is your best friend. The motor didn’t get stuck like it is in just a few days, so likely it won’t free up very quickly either. Heat, cooling, lots of penetrating oil and as crosbyman noted, a wooden peg and hammer on the piston should eventually get it freed up.

September 8, 2021 at 7:37 am #246352A grease gun and fitting for the plug hole may be your only option. If you can get the cap off of the connecting rod,and the crank out of the way, sometimes you can pull a seized piston.
September 8, 2021 at 8:11 am #246355Thanks guys.I will keep on trying to get it loose
September 8, 2021 at 9:07 am #246359Not to be a “Debbie Downer”, but you might want to look for a parts engine that
turns over with compression. Of the few outboards that were froze hard,
but I eventually got apart, maybe one or two turned into “runners”, and
not “great” runners. It seems that the smaller the cylinder bore, the more critical
good compression becomes.
Maybe others have had better luck.
Not to say it’s not worth trying, but it’s always good to have a back-up plan.Prepare to be boarded!
