      When setting the points do I set them open to 0.020 where it says top and has an arrow? That does not look like the fattest point of the shaft.

        The "top" is to show which side of the cam faces up.

          So means nothing and I should set them at the widest point. On some motors I’ve set points on there is a mark on the flywheel. This one has no mark or perhaps it is worn off.

            The mark on the flywheel is where they just start to open, not their widest gap. SOME cams have a "set" mark at the high spot, most do not. Easy way is align the points’ rubbing block with the keyway. Or do it right and use a timing fixture. Heh.
