I have a couple gearcases that should be resealed. A 1955 5.5 Johnson and a 1957 Evinrude 18. Are the Sierra kits good or should I order individuel factory seals? Doesnt look as if there are any kits from factory?

I don’t see the kits on their web site at this moment but give them a call  🙂

I have used many Sierra seal kits over the years and they have worked out great. The only issues I have ever had with Sierra is their Yamaha water pump kits….for some reason I’ve had several Yamahas that eventually needed factory OEM kits so now I just get the OEM Yammy kits.

I’ve used the Sierra seal kits on my projects and haven’t had any problems.

I had put a Sierra kit in a 10 hp Evinrude and the prop shaft seal didnt seem as well built as the original seal but havent had it out yet so wasnt sure of the quality. Will probably just go ahead and continue with them then. Thanks!
