Nothing worse then a house paint paint job. Especially if it was done back in the 50’s or 60’s when house paint was real oil based paint, not the soggy cheese Latex paint of today. I remember as a kid my Dad brought home a 1952 Buick that was brush painted black with house paint. Dad had me sanding on that thing every time I got in trouble as a punishment. To this day I cringe every time I see a 52 Buick.

.October 23, 2016 at 1:25 pm #46362at least they didn’t use the gold stuff… or cut an access window in the housing….
but I fixed it… sort of….
Good luck with your repairs, and Kees is right about that transom bracket with the tilt lock mechanism…. nice accessory to have

That is what I was thinking as I was melting it off of there.
Always a bright side. This is the first tilt mechanism for me
but I’m not into these the way you gents are. Forgot a photo
of the nifty after market fill plug. Probably will replace it
though.Kept this magneto/battery switch I found on a 1922
although I did improve its appearance some.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
October 23, 2016 at 4:34 pm #46372That KF-7 is coming along nicely! 😀 I kind of like the gold and green lettering on your tank band. I am working on a tank band today, and it has some seriously deep corrosion discoloration that I don’t think I will be able to polish out. This is an idea for that band that I may consider.

October 24, 2016 at 1:46 am #46397That one isn’t to bad but I’m tired of polishing stuff
so I took the easy way out, I thought. Took 4 days
and twice the time as it would have to just buff it
out. Tank had a hole punched in it with some small
dings but the inside is clean. There are some ripples
in the back of the tank from the stamping that I’m
taking the time to block out.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
