I’ve got several old OMC carbs from the 50’s that I’ve decided to clean up.
Saw several posts over the years about soaking carbs in 100% Pine-Sol.
My question is: What length of time? Can soaking these carbs for several days cause harm? These are really cruddy carbs so I’d like to soak them a long time if that won’t damage the aluminum castings.
      Thanks,

        I use a 50/50 mix of pinesol/water.
I think the longest I left it to soak was 3 days.
It didn’t harm it, and it was clean.
Though I’ve never had one I would call real cruddy.
One thing for sure, It smells better in the garage
        than the old carb soak!

Agree on the 50/50 mix. Use hot water. Brass parts will turn black if soaked too long.

I never thought Pinesol would have enough "oooomph" to cut through fuel mix/ grease crud buildup or varnish. I’ll have to try that when the "War Department" complains about other solvent smells coming from the basement. One question…..does your test barrel smell pine fresh" on first start up? :^)

Nope, I keep Dawn dish soap in the test barrel 😀

I’ll try that if I can sneak it out of the kitchen!
