Installed a “good” coil and new spark plug and kill switch wires on the Mag Plate.

I fanned the plug wires back around the braided ends of the plug wire and secured in position against the coil tabs using the mag straps, it seems to be securely held in place quite well.

Should the the “fanned” ends of the plug wires be trimmed back as to not wrap around the ends of the braid? Does it matter?

Also replaced the kill switch wire and wire from coil to breaker.

      See pics, comments, feedback appreciated.

If what you “fanned” back is the inner wire core, I don’t think I’d
want any protruding outside of the socket, for fear of arcing.
I can’t remember what the coil contact point looks like inside of the socket.
Also, does this model have the Bakelite nuts screwed into
the mag plate, that secures the plug wires in place?

        Prepare to be boarded!

As buck has stated the longer wire could be a problem.
I have used brass nails in the past with good results.
          Copper might be better.

Thanks Bucc, no bakelite nuts on this one. See pic of what I refer to as mag straps.

Tubs, I think idea of using brass nails is much better than fanning the wires.

Wires I removed were fanned and cut back as to not protrude outside the insulation as Bucc noted.

              Thanks Guys

Hi Tubbs , do you know the diameter of the nails you used?

So far I’ve found 14 gauge (.083″) copper nails.

Just found copper plated brass (.050″) diameter.

Anybody needing small cooper/brass nails, I have em!

Tim. I don’t have any idea and I ‘m away from home for awhile.
They were just something I had and they looked to be about
the same size as copper wire in the cable.
I have a bunch of spare’s as well.

I’ll believe the .050 copper coated brass nails I ordered will work .

                      Thanks again
