No response on Dockside Chat so posting here.

While searching info on my 1985 Evinrude 9.9/15 I found an OMC spark plug application chart. It states .030 for my motor.
I bought the motor new and the dealer told me .040. I checked the original owners manual and gap is .040.

The only reason I can see for the change is OMC went from 100/1 back to 50/1. Last time out I gapped .030 and ran fine.

I am thinking about splitting the difference and trying .035.

      What are your Thoughts?

      Sincerely,

      Doug

Your solution sounds reasonable to me.

        .

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I’d run it at .030, if it were mine. Those ignitions can’t take a joke as it is, never mind pushing it to .040. Just my opinion.

          Long live American manufacturing!
