I decided to replace the impeller this evening in a 1967 folder. It seemed pretty straight forward until I tried to remove the large pin that the coupler slides on.I assume I had to,is that correct? How much force is necessary to drive it out?I didn’t want to get to aggressive and screw it up.

Not sure, but you could always just pull the driveshaft up and out of the gearcase, then install the pieces up and onto the driveshaft, then slide it all back down again…

fleetwin is right. i did one recently.its easier that way.i ususally put grease on an impeller when i put it in to the housing but the impeller kept slipping out.just put it in dry then you can put a little dab of grease in the housing (if you like to use grease)after the impeller is in so it doesnt slip out.it might take a little trial and error to get to the shaft to line up with the gear but no big deal.good luck
