Are there two screws in the lower for filling it with grease?…..I see one that says "grease", but don’t see a vent screw. The motor is model 6039, 22.5 hp Speeditwin.

      Thanks,
      Jim

        Jim,

Just the one screw. Use grease, not oil.

At least three gear cases were used on that 6039 model. There were also a couple after market gear cases used in "C" Service racing that didn’t have any grease plugs at all.

They used the Stormboat Motor gear case after the war (World War Two)

I cheated. I had the lower apart, so when i put everything back together i filled it before i pit the gear housing cap back on.

This is what is meant by "Grease"

                .

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I’ve been using both lubriplate 105 and corn head grease in my old motors.

                  Thanks,
                  Jim
