Hi, I pulled off the rack my 1948 sportwin to put some new life into it. I have to hunt down condensers and and coils. condensers I’m not worried about but the coils are a different story. I tried to test them with my Merctronics 98 and have no result. My coils are of the 4 wire type. I have no continuity From the plug wire to either ground. I’m not even really sure what brand of coil they are but I’m going to bet WICO. Can someone help me identify the coils and suggest a suitable replacement? I don’t mind doing a modification. Thanks for your help, Matt

The coils were made by OMC. I’m surprised you found two bad ones. Are you sure?? They were made before OMC discovered how to make coils that self-destruct after a couple of years.

Found my problem. I did not realize that the primary and the secondary have separate ground connections thus the 4 connections on the coil. I do have spark. Thanks Frankr and Doug Penn’s video collection. You made me think.
