The prop that came with it was a 277585, 9" diameter 8" pitch – superseded by 277595 same diameter and pitch, but not weedless.
August 12, 2016 at 7:12 pm #41965My advice is always use the prop that has the engine turning around 4,500 RPM wide open with your normal load.
August 12, 2016 at 7:15 pm #41966I’m no expert so take this for what it’s worth. I do have a ’55 QD with the semi weedless prop and they start out pretty narrow. Other than being green, it doesn’t look too much different than yours. That one looks a bit worn, but I doubt you will have any over rev issues. A tach is the only way to know for sure, but I doubt you’ll have a problem. I would not be afraid to clean the nicks up and run it. That is assuming, of course that the diameter is correct for the 10hp. I can’t actually tell from the picture without a tape or scale of some kind. Hopefully someone with more experience with them will either confirm or reject my statement but that’s my 2 cents.

August 12, 2016 at 8:38 pm #41971I like using that style prop over the wider blade for my 10 horse motors up to ’57. It’s been a while since I checked but I’m pretty sure the white one is also 9 X 8. I’ve tried both and the narrower blade seems to reach max. rpm and plane the boat faster. I’ve been meaning to get a tach, but I’m just going by ear and knowing the motors on my boat the way I do. There’s no worry over-revving. The ’55 Johnson 10 hp in the video is wide open with the green prop.

picture shareAugust 12, 2016 at 10:15 pm #41976Thank you all. I’ll clean up the nicks and run it.
August 13, 2016 at 2:17 pm #42021Nothing wrong with those style props at all.
Here’s the same prop on a ’56 QD and it pushes the 14′ tinner quite well.
