A place I know of with lots of old outboards invited me to come over and have first dibs on some motors they are going to be getting rid of soon. Prices on motors will range from $5 all the way up to $20. For twenty I can get a ’58 Big Twin, ten each will bring home fresh water OK’s, one with a polishable straight tank and they said the opposed twin Koban would be in the five to ten range. I could also see some JW’s, a Ranger, Mighty Mites and other various makes under the dust. I’ll find out later if the PO 15 next door is on the list.
On the other side of the room were more motors which they might keep for a while before letting go. Two Bendix singles, a Lauson four stroke and two square tank Rudes caught my eye for further consideration. Also in the building I saw a ’58 35 SSH, ’54 RD, several Big Twin style tiller handles, carry handles, controls and a boat side wiring harness. Since I’ll probably be back in a week or two, I left with all I could carry. Four working pressure tanks with fittings for the grand price of ten bucks! This is what dreams are made of!
