Is the bar at the back of my 58 Johnson 35 hp casing a stabilizer bar?

It’s to prevent your motor rolling on the gearshift and to keep it stable when you lay the motor on its “back”.

Thank you! So when it is on the boat, it doesn’t need to be there?

I know of no other use for it. Why do you want to take it off ?

Can’t get the motor cover over the motor because the arm is so wide! hahaha

Officially, it is a “carrying handle”. Sure is handy for that. But you don’t need it if you don’t want it.

A carry handle sure helps when lifting those big motors on or off the boat.

They also double as a place to hang salmon on for photo shoots!

Find it very handy for waterskiers getting back onto my boats duckboard after they have fallen off ………wouldn’t be without it!
