I picked up a Steven’s Breaker Point Tester at Constantine. The instruction label is partially missing. Would anyone have a good image of the label or know how to use this tester?

The instrument is merely an Ohm meter capable of reading a resistance of less than an Ohm or so.  Connected across a set of points, it should read zero Ohms (green range).  New points may not come down to zero (green) until cranked a few seconds to burn off any film that may be contaminating the points’ contacts.

Or some creative text to that effect.

A member reached out with the text from his Steven’s unit. I’m including it here for future reference in case someone else is looking for this information in the future.

“Pilot light indicates instrument is ‘on’. Connect test lead to armature plate casting. Connect other lead to cutout lead or ‘hot’ side of breaker assembly. Rotate crankshaft until breaker points close. Clean or replace points that are in the ‘red’ range. New breaker points may show in ‘red’ range until magneto is sparked for a few seconds.”
