OMC would periodically send its dealers lists of motors which had been reported stolen and ask them to keep an eye open for any which may come into their shops. The lists would include other OMC products to, such as Lawn-Boy mowers and Pioneer chainsaws.

I wonder how effective that program was. Seems to me that unless a stolen motor surfaced almost immediately the odds would be slim to none that a busy dealer would be able to find and then take the time to read through a bunch of these.

Yeah and how many dealers would want to get involved in something like that?
