      On a Mark55 is it possible to run a tachometer on the distributor wire?

        In a period instrument case? Dunno, sorry. If you just want RPM, use any of the clamp-on inductive tachs.

          Its four pulses per revolution Mercury and Airguide made tachs that worked off the distributor pulse
