It has come to our attention that with the demise of Evinrude and the fact that BRP will no longer produce the motor and parts, that BRP has put out an email about where to find vintage OMC and BRP parts. There are 5 names on the list and the AOMCI is one on the list. It lists a phone number on whom to call for parts. What should be done is visit the AOMCI website, check out the Resource section and go to the “Links” section. Check out the “For your old outboard” as there are many members who have websites specializing in old parts. If that does not work, then visit the “Classified” section and post a want ad on the site. The phone number listed on the BRP message is NOT the phone number for the AOMCI.
Sincerely,
Rick Eichrodt

June 2, 2020 at 5:29 pm #204818Do not hold your breath in regard to future support on parts from BuRP. As one can tell from past actions they have been raising prices on replacement part on Evinrude and Johnson motors to unheard of levels. They have wanted all of the old customers and motors to go away and not be bothered. Back in the 1980’s OMC sales people wanted to sell more new motors but the amount of good used OMC product stopped all of that talk. Once the federal time limit on replacement parts runs out on the new motors new parts manufacturing will end. The same thing happened with the Yamaha stern drive parts. Yes some parts will still be sold in after market but choices will be more limited.
