i fired up the PO today in the yard. Tomorrow we will find a lake.
In my video you will note I forgot to close the compression release so I had a “One cylinder” motor going.
Lots of levers and such to deal with. The Cat D-9 of outboards.

You may already know this, but the compression release lever also closes the bypass port for the port side cylinder. Easier to crank over and sends the full charge from the crankcase to the starboard cylinder.
Pretty sharp lads, those Johnson brothers 🙂

Not much smoke? What mix are you running?
September 19, 2018 at 8:57 pm #83199VERY cool! It’s always awesome when you fire up an old motor for the first time.

Chris,
Believe it or not this was on 8:1. A 50-50 mix of TCW3 and 40wt non detergent. After I run it a while I may cut back a bit. Oil is cheap!
