I pulled the thermostat on my 59 Jubile 5.5
the top cover gasket broke off of course 🙁 … and the thermostat rubber rim seal was shot
tested the thermostat and it opens up around 150 F with my turkey probe…… ..bit hotter than 143 but would that be an issue if i reused it ?
with parts $and shipping $$$ for a rim seal being usually obscene would common gasket sealant be OK to use ?
finally that top cover gasket seems pretty simple to cut out from gasket material …. any issues with home made stuff seeing it is just warm water going by ?
thanks for comments
update: ok folks found both parts on Amazon 33$ whatt he heck… I ordered them but questions still stand 🙂

Take advantage of the ‘Make An Offer’ option and make them a lowball offer, especially if you are buying a bunch of them at once. Most sellers over there like to dicker and you should arrive at a price which makes everyone happy. The seals for them can be found on Amazon and come in two packs.
